Cow??? Why a cow?

• Our campus is top-ranked in agricultural sciences across the board
• We conduct a lot of research on cows, spanning animal welfare, genomics, diet, reducing greenhouse gases from, um, bovine emissions, and more.
• The student body gained campus approval of a cow as the ASUCD mascot
• Our annual campus open house includes a cow milking contest. Chancellor Emeritus James Meyer, a faculty member in Animal Science who grew up milking cows on his family's farm, used to win. Every. Single. Year.
• Ringing a cow bell to mark the completion of a PhD has become a campus tradition
• People, including PREP alumnus Johnny Vertiz, enjoy communing with the cows.
