The 2021 edition of The College Tour features UC Davis! 

UC Davis and the city of Davis worked together throughout summer 2020 and thereafter to create a model for limiting the spread of COVID-19 in our community. The resulting program, Healthy Davis Together, has been lauded as a glimpse into the future of public health. Read about the program, its inception and implementation, and its outcomes.

UC Davis' Office of Graduate Studies has announced the inaugural cohort for the Faculty Academy of Graduate Student Well-Being.

Dr. Jackson Gross, an aquaculture cooperative extension specialist and faculty member at UC Davis, visited the lab of Dr. Crystal Rogers to learn about vertebrate development, comparative embryology, and the importance her colony of axolotls. PREP@UCD scholar Connor Christensen studies axolotls for his project in 2020-2021, and alumnus and current BMCDB student Colton Baumler has joined the Rogers lab for his PhD research.

UC Davis PhD alumna Briana Rocha-Gregg founded the program to bring science outreach to K-6 classrooms in her hometown, Stockton CA. Since its inception, hundreds of UC Davis grad students have volunteered to make this program a success. And PREP scholars have chipped in, too.

When I first came into the Trimmer lab at the start of my PREP experience, I felt like I did not know anything. It was an overwhelming experience to be sure. Now, as I am leaving, I have learned how to execute new assays, navigate the lab space and design experiments. All of this has helped prepare me for the similar process at the start of graduate school. In this blog I want to offer the pieces of advice I would give myself if I were starting this year over again.
