Celena Lozano, all-around star!

PREP alumna Celena Lozano has come a long way since her days as a UC Davis undergrad.
She's now a PhD candidate in Neuroscience in Kyle Fink's lab and studies gene therapy in neurological diseases. In addition to her work in the lab, Celena serves on the Board of Directors of the PURA Syndrome Foundation, an NGO that seeks to drive research on PURA Syndrome and support families of children with this rare genetic neurodevelopmental disorder. She recently was selected for the 2025 David Perlman Virtual Mentorship program of the National Association of Science Writers, and received an award for her article on the future of gene therapy for children with rare diseases.
And it was just published as an opinion in StatNews!
Congratulations, Celena!
